When I had trouble sleeping for many years, I never would have thought that a unique way of connecting with the earth would have helped me, however, I have found that the practice of earthing or grounding with sheets can help us connect with the earth and benefit from the energy that surrounds it.

Earthing products and sheets are able to connect a cord to the outlets in our home to get energy from the earth into our bodies. One thing you need to do to understand if this is going to work for you is to test your earthing sheet to make sure it is properly grounded and helping to give you the many benefits of earthing.

How to Test for Earth Ground in 3 Easy Steps

To help you become grounded as easily as possible, you need to find a location that has a good current to help you become connected to the earth. These 3 steps should help you test for grounding.

1. Set Up Multimeter

You need a multimeter to perform this test. Plug the black cord into COM and the red into VΩma. Plug the grounding sheet adaptor into the wall and put the red clip into one side of the adaptor. Plug the cord from the sheet into the other side.

2. Take a Baseline Reading

Turn the dial on the multimeter to ~V and place the metal probe between your fingers. Do not touch the sheet yet. This is your baseline reading without contact with the sheet. Make a note of it.

3. Take a Test Reading

What to Do if Earthing (Indoors) Doesn’t Seem to Be Working?

After using a checklist and test sheet for your grounding, you should be able to tell if it’s working. Whether using a mat or other grounding product, you will not be able to really notice them working as a traditional electronic device. If your device does not seem to be working, check all the connections, try a different outlet or contact the seller of the product in question.

Caring for Your Grounding Sheet

When you have the best set of earthing sheets, you want to take care of them, so that they last you years.

Most rights reserved earthing sheets can be washed easily. However, you want to make sure you check the instructions beforehand. You would not want to ruin the silver in the sheets. Washing them every week or two is enough, especially if you only sleep with them.

To clean your earthing sheets, start by removing the cord. Most will come off easily. Then, you wash your sheets on a normal cycle and put them in the dryer on low. I recommend that you wash the rest of your bedding after, since putting your clean earthing sheet on a dirty bed will just undo your cleaning.

I always use a mild detergent, one that does not have whiteners like bleach inside. Bleach will easily ruin the silver wires in your blanket, never use it. Other oxidizing detergents can damage the conductive nature as well.

Another way to care for your sheets or mat is to handle the cord with care. It can easily become a tripping hazard, so you want to always know where it is around your bed. Ripping it from the outlet can damage it- which is what causes most earthing sheets to stop working.

Overall, they are easy to manage. Just make sure that you do your best and the silver material in the cotton sheets will last you a good while. Keep in mind that if you use it daily, it may wear out the earth half sheet faster. A mat is more durable, but it is up to you and your body with what you choose.

Since most people do not go barefoot in nature or put their bodies on the ground, there have been new products developed so that you can get grounded without going outside. In other words, they mimic the natural effect of the earth. Grounding pads are a great way to do this. They connect to the earth’s electricity so that you can get grounded anywhere and don’t have to go outside.

They work by connecting to the ground opening of an electrical outlet. Unlike when you plug in a lamp or other device, the cord only discharges energy to the ground via your outlet grounding wire, it does not use the other slots that carry electrical current.

These grounded mats or sheets utilize silver and nylon to create a conductive material. Whenever the grounding plug is inserted into the outlet, the charge can flow through the material and out to the outlet so that you can become grounded while indoors.

Is There Any Solid Research on Grounding Mats?

Although earthing or grounding may seem a bit far-fetched, there has actually been a lot of science done about it and its benefits. Those who are in favor of earthing tools claim that it helps them ground when they are inside. This is especially true if you have trouble sleeping. These devices can help you ground while you sleep, making it easier to relax and sleep at night.

However, there are people who are against using these devices. These people prefer using earth solely. They claim that the point of earthing is to equalize yourself using the earth’s energy, which can’t happen when exposed to electromagnetic fields. When you use a device, you connect to other currents as well. As a result, electric charges flow through your body as well as the charge from the earth.

You may decide for yourself if you like grounding mats or not.
